The end of yoga is not solely limited to postures, however deep they may take one. Meditation is the end result of yoga practice, both in sitting form and through a contemplative attitude in all one does. Tonight we will concentrate on poses that open the hips making sitting easier for longer periods of time. You’ll be surprised at how simple it is to concentrate the mind and develop calm and clear mindfulness.

So many students are lost in the "Hollywood facade" of the poses thinking that doing more convoluted and advanced postures is doing better yoga. The truth is fundamentals are the basis for all advanced poses, especially if you want them to be done correctly and injury free. Today we will review the basic spinal movements of flexion, extension, lateral bending and axial rotation, as well abduction, adduction, internal and external rotation of the shoulder and the hips. Poses highlighting each of these actions will be demonstrated, taught and corrected with modifications suggested for each student.
